Diet Quirk
Here is something from an eating perspective. All the dieting I've done over my life, and I think I just figured out something. In diet mode I like a light balanced breakfast. 2/3 Cup of Oatmeal and a Cup of Cottage Cheese or a Yogurt. That has been working fine.
Lunch I go for another light balanced meal about 400-600 calories. Tuna or Salmon or Chicken with fruit, like pears or peaches or pineapple.
Snack on the home commute, like a Balance Bar.
When dinner hits I am pretty in control, no big cravings, can proportion well, etc.
Here is the quirk. If I eat too much at lunch, say add some chips, maybe a full size turkey sandwich, a single cookie, I'm in trouble! The rest of the day goes to hell! I start getting hungry in the afternoon, the candy jars on peoples dess start calling me, I feel like stopping on the way home for beef jerky or something and dinner I scarf everything in sight!!!!
Lunch really sets my tone for the rest of the day. Anyone else seeing this?

The chips, bread on the sandwich and cookie are all going to raise your blood glucose. It is this fluctuation in glucose that makes you body have cravings and need to eat. Or something like that.
I can have that happen in the morning. If I eat a lot of not-good-for-you-carbs the night before (beer) I am STARVING when I wake up.
Good luck today to you and Sweetpea. I don't feel too bad this morning.
And welcome. I think we are going to have to sign our names in the titles so everyone knows who is writing the blog. Maybe the title by so and so...what you think?

I know about the glucose roller coaster. It just amazes me that lunch seems to be the starting line for me. The night before doesn't usually affect me in the morning.
If you look at the bottom of each blog it tells you in faint pink who wrote it. Faint pink,,,, and I'm writing on that color....

I've always been a meal-skipper, and I know that its wreaked havoc on my metabolism - which is why I HAVE to exercise. Like Pam, on a normal day I don't eat that much.
With the diet I'm on they've got me (theoretically) eating about every three hours, and I've found that if I eat breakfast then I am in fact hungry three hours or so later...but sticking to the schedule is a toughie. Today I've been up since 6:30, got going on a project and now its 11 and all I've had is water and coffee - bad girl, bad bad girl!!

I don't know that it's lunch necissarily, but once I start to eat big meals or otherwise indulge, it's like a snowball effect and it can litterally go on for DAYS! I think it's more an attitude then a chemical reaction though.
