The Daily Diet--news you can loose

A chronicle of our personal quest to loose weight

I am presently and forever back to part-time at work. I feel I have my life back. I know it has been ages since I bloged here, but my last post was about getting back to "me" and happiness and this has inturn developed into discovering "peace of mind." I think when I find peace of mind in my life, work, and family, everything else will fall into place--including my weight control.
I have re-discovered vegetables! I was a vegetarian from about my junior year in high school and then on and off while raising the girls (one of my daughters is vegetarian while the other only eats chicken now). For almost two months I have not eaten anything with legs, nor have I had eggs or milk. This is the beginning of my transistion into avoiding animal protein altogether.
Before everyone jumps on a band wagon and gets defensive, please remember this is my choice and a choice I made for personal reasons--health being the number one reason and animals being the second. I re-chose to be a vegetarian after reading "The China Study" and researching some of the studies I read about there. My philosophy on animals has grown up abit since I was a teen. I am not against eating animals. I do believe if you are going to own them or eat them, you should do it w/o cruelty. So am I against something here? Yes, but you'll have to read my other blog site.
I have only lost about 4 lbs in the last couple months but I am going to attribute that to the large quanty of beer that I have been consuming and the lack of exercise.
Well, I love beer and hate exercise. This too shall pass in good time.
I have been having way too good of a time reading veggie cookbooks, books on preserving (we bought a freezer and the dehydrator has come out of storage!) and I have been cooking up a storm! The hubby has been really supportive. No complaints about eating meatless dishes--could be that I'm doing all the cooking! He even shucked two bushels of sweetcorn while I was a work and helped me put it up for the winter.
So that is where I am. Feeling very healthy, relaxed and cooking w/ my hubby--in more ways then one.
